The change such as land reclamation is inevitable as the population of Singapore would always grow. We cannot hide from the fact that we are always requiring more land to compete with other countries in the economy and other ways. As the population kept on growing, we need more land for residential purposes. Also, more recreation facilities are required for the growing population. Due to the fast rate the economy is growing, more land is needed for the industries and factories as well. The developing infrastructure too need the land. Both the growing population and the economy is responsible for the change. Therefore, the change is inevitable as everybody need land to meet their needs.
The change benefits the growing population and the economy. The growing population, as stated, has more residential and recreational facilities to meet their needs. The economy also has to meet their needs too. It will have more factories and industrial facilities as it is expanding at rapid rate. They can be used to earn income for Singapore's economy and Singapore would be able to compete with other countries. In conclusion, it is Singapore, the nation that benefits from the inevitable change.
Teh Zhi Thon:
For such a drastic change that can greatly or minimally affect the future or the present, careful thoughts, I presume, are considered before any action is taken. Singapore is a small island, but it has a gradually growing population of over 4 million now and therefore, it is impossible to avoid the fact that, WE NEED LAND. Therefore, if any reclamation of land is needed to be done, careful planning must be done so as to make the purpose of the land successful and efficient. If anything is done wrongly AT ALL, the mistakes would probably have to be fixed by paying a huge sum and it it definitely not worth paying extra when you have the chance to prevent it. Many other countries are connected to the main continent and are not separated by a border of water. However, Singapore is and to reclaim land, we cannot simply just take land, we have to bring sand, soil and rocks and many other materials and is not as simple as it looks. However, with the growing economy and successful governments, Singapore is able to reclaim more land gradually and eventually, using the land as spots to build facilities to accommodate the needs of the people.
Therefore, I feel that, the government does all it can to ensure the interests of its Singaporeans are kept in check and the available land is carefully used to accomodate them.
Morris Ngiam Feng Jun:
The change is inevitable as it is one of the significant changes that humans face to mke the Earth suited to our living needs. The world is changing progressively be it in terms of industrial or enironmental and we have to make the necessary changes to adhere to our needs. We face problems like land shortage and rising demand for land.
When there is competition for land, there are always wins and losses. Certain people will benefit fomr it while others may lose out. Whenever we adapt to the changes, our target is always the growing population and economy. One example would be that one solution is increasing the price of land. Thiis will help the government to reduce high competition for land but at the same time, the organisation that are not as wealthy have to move further away from the central business district to start a business.
As mentioned in the previous paragraph, the scarcity of land is due to the growing population and economy. We cannot stop the growing population and economy as it is a naturl process. The only thing we can do is to adapt to the change and find ways and solutions to solve it.
In conclusion, land shortage is a change that is inevitable, and we can only adapt to it.
